Midwest Hospitality Photographer | White Lace Inn Shoot | Tom Krueger
Photography has a powerful job in the hospitality industry: it must tell a cohesive story before a single word is read. For boutique properties, bed and breakfasts, and historic inns, standout visuals are what transform a digital browser into a booked guest. Recently, I had the pleasure of bringing my camera to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to capture the timeless, romantic character of the White Lace Inn.
Composed of four beautifully restored historic homes, this iconic Door County destination is an exceptional study in Victorian architecture and English-style landscaping. When shooting hospitality spaces, my goal is to balance technical precision with a cinematic eye. I want to create imagery that feels both elevated and deeply human. On this shoot, that meant chasing the perfect morning light as it filtered through the gardens, accentuating the property's signature gingerbread trim, sweeping wrap-around porches, and intimate gazebos.
Inside the inn, the challenge shifts to capturing authentic warmth and fine craftsmanship. From the rich textures of the antique furnishings and four-poster beds to the soft glow of historic fireplaces, each room presented a unique narrative of comfort and grand design. Utilizing deliberate composition and natural styling, these interior photographs highlight the deliberate details—like the intricate lace accents—that give the inn its distinct identity.
Whether I am working on local commercial projects or traveling to historic destinations, my ultimate focus remains the same: helping premium hospitality brands put their best foot forward with bold, authentic imagery.
